A two and a half year old girl had a providential escape after she fell from the roof of a house into the narrow gap between two walls at Tala Bazaar area under Choudwar municipality in Cuttack district on Saturday.  

According to sources, the minor girl was playing on the terrace with her mother when she accidentally slipped and fell into the 15 feet deep wall cavity between two houses. 

As there was only 6 inch gap between the two walls, it was a challenge to rescue the girl. After the family members of girl shouted for help, locals gathered at the spot and drilled some portion of the wall and rescued the girl. Her condition is stated to be stable. 

Fire officer Ramesh Chandra Behera of Tangi-Choudwar fire station, said, “We received a call at 5.50 pm that a minor girl fell into the wall cavity at Tala Bazaar Sahi of Choudwar and reached the spot. The concrete wall was broken using drilling machine and the child was rescued to safety." 

“The health condition of the child is stable. However, she has been rushed to a hospital for check up,” he added.
