In a glaring example of poor implementation of ‘PM Awas Yojana’, a poor man from Kusinga village under Kaduapada Gram Panchayat in Jagatsighpur district sleeps in constant fear under a thatched roof of his house, which might collapse anytime.

Once more, Sukant Roy was not able to find his name in the list of beneficiaries of the Awas Yojana. In effect, Sukant’s family members are compelled to live in the dilapidated house.

“I have been running from pillar to post since last few years. I requested the Sarpanch and BDO over a dozen times, but to no avail. I don’t know who else is eligible for the said scheme if people like us who are living in a ‘kachha’ house, cannot get one,” said a dejected Sukant.

“We live in constant fear that with the rainy season coming, the roof of our house can fall anytime. I have met all officials, but in vain,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kaduapada Sarpanch Pramod Sahu assured that Sukant will be allotted a house under the scheme soon.

“Sukant is eligible to be included in the Awas Yojana scheme. If anyone deserves to benefit from the scheme, then he should. Sukant will be allotted a house under the scheme soon,” said Pramod.
