Man critical after self-immolation bid outside police station in Cuttack

A man sustained critical burn injuries after attempting to immolate himself in front of Kishannagar police station in Salepur of Cuttack district on Thursday.

As per preliminary reports, the victim, Gunanidhi Bisoi, set himself on fire by pouring petrol on his body.

Though the exact reason is still unclear, it is suspected that Bisoi had approached the officials of the concerned local police station in connection with a land dispute. Bisoi had sought police assistance some 7-8 days back.

It is suspected that Bisoi might have resorted to the extreme step after failing to get desired assistance from the police officials. However, no comments could be obtained from the concerned police station officials.

Meanwhile, Bisoi has been rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital and his condition is said to be critical.
