Already in the firing-line of the Opposition for his alleged links with the prime accused in lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra was shown black flag and eggs were hurled on his vehicle during his visit to Junagarh in Kalahandi district on Sunday.

As per the initial reports, BJP activities allegedly hurled eggs at the Minister’s vehicle near College chhak and showed black flags as a mark of protest.

The incident has heated up politics ahead of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s scheduled visit to the district tomorrow (November 8).

The saffron party has been demanding the dismissal of Mishra for his alleged links with the prime accused in the Mamita murder case, Gobinda Sahu.

Tension ran high in the area as a scuffle reportedly broke out between BJD and BJP activists following the egg attack.

Notably, the Minister was on his way to attend BJD’s programme when he allegedly faced the protest by the BJP activists. Mishra was also accompanied by BJD’s organisational secretary Pranab Das in the vehicle.

The opposition parties, including BJP and Congress, have scaled up attack on Odisha government and are demanding removal of Mishra for his alleged complicity in the Mamita Meher murder case.

The Congress has appealed people to observe ‘janata curfew’ as a mark of protest during CM’s scheduled tour to the district tomorrow.

Meanwhile, BJP has also announced to organise a 12-day 'Nyay (Justice) Yatra' to demand CBI probe into Mamita Meher murder case and dismissal of the concerned Minister.

No comments could be obtained from the police or the BJD leaders over the black flag protest and egg attack on Minister Dibya Shankar’s vehicle.
