Demanding stoppage of passenger trains at Laxmipur Station, the members of Laxmipur Vikash Parishad staged a ‘Rail Roko’ agitation by sitting on the rail track on Monday, disrupting train services on the route.

Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka also took part in the protest urging authorities to provide a stoppage at the station for passenger trains.

As per reports, hundreds of people of Laxmipur constituency rely on trains for communication. But they are facing inconvenience as none of the passenger trains stops at the station.

Blaming lackadaisical attitude of government authorities, a protestor said,“We had taken the matter to the notice of authorities concerned in railways but nothing has yet been done in this regard. We will continue to protest at the railway station here until our demand is fulfilled.”

Notably, during their demonstration on December 5 last year, the protestors stopped goods train passing through the Laxmipur station.
