BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Jay Panda on Tuesday sought the diplomatic intervention of the Embassy of India in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in bringing back the body of an Odisha resident who died in Abu Dhabi.

In a letter to the Indian Ambassador, Panda requested the embassy to take necessary steps to facilitate the return of the body of Bibhuti Bhusan Jena.

Jena, a native of Nathpur village of Jajpur district, had been working in Abu Dhabi as an electrician at a private company for eight years. He passed away on April 28.

Jena’s family was informed about his demise by one of his colleagues. The bereaved family ran from pillar to post to bring back Jena's body, but to no avail.

Later, the family members had approached the BJP national vice-president for help.
