BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda has sought the diplomatic intervention of the Embassy of India in United Arab Emirates (UAE) to bring back the body of an Odisha resident who died in Dubai.

In a letter to the Indian Ambassador to Dubai, Panda has requested the embassy to take steps to facilitate the return of the body of Narayan Rout.

Rout, a native of Chakibanka village under Rajnagar police limits in Kendrapara district, had been working in Dubai for the past two years. He passed away on December 12.

After several unsuccessful attempts to bring back the body of Rout, his family members had approached Panda for help.

Recently, the mortal remains of an Odia youth, who died in Bangladesh, arrived at his native village Nandol under Salepur Tehsil of Cuttack district following the intervention of BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda.

The youth, identified as Pitambar Sahoo, was working at a private company in Shahjahanpur of Dhaka in Bangladesh when he died on December 11 of unknown causes.

His family then informed the former MP from Kendrapara, seeking his help to transport the body from the foreign land.
Panda took the initiative in this regard and the body was transported to the native village of Sahoo on Wednesday night.
