Chaos gripped Berhampur MKCG Hospital on Friday after a disagreement between a section of doctors and nursing staff intensified into a full-blown fight.

What is most surprising is that the quarrel ensued in front of the office of the hospital superintendent. As a result, all house surgeons and nursing staff at the hospital have ceased their work. Sources said, health services have been hit in most of the departments apart from the casualty.

According to sources, a house surgeon reportedly asked a nurse to get blood test of a patient who was admitted at the casualty ward.

However, the nurse is said to have refused to attend to the doctor’s advice which later led to a disagreement between the duo.

The situation turned ugly today morning when hundreds of nurses and house surgeons gathered in front of the superintendent’s office to lodge complaints against each other.

Soon a quarrel ensued between the groups and blew out of proportion as members attacked others from the opposite faction. The fight went to such an extent that some protesters even did not hesitate to tear apart each others’ clothes.

A team of Baidyanathpur police reached the hospital to broker peace between the warring groups.
