Gold rush on Akshay Tritiya; Odisha jewellers hopeful of brisk business

Despite prices being on higher side, heavy rush was observed at various jewellery stores across Odisha on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya on Tuesday.

As per a popular belief, buying gold and silver on Akshay Tritiya brings prosperity. Hence, people in the State were keen to buy the precious yellow metal on the auspicious occasion.

The rush for gold has certainly brought smiles on the faces of jewellery store owners as they are hopeful of doing a good business after it received a setback due to Covid-19 restrictions last year.

“Since morning, a large number of people are turning up to buy gold and silver ornaments. This has given us hope that we will be able to register a good business on Akshay Tritiya today,” said a director of jewellery story.

It is pertinent to mention here that several leading jewellery stores have come up with attractive offers including discounts on making charges and even giving away gold and silver coin on purchases to woo customers.

The stores have also come up with different varieties of ornaments as per customers’ requirement and budget. Many people, who were planning to buy gold for marriage and other functions, chose Akshay Tritiya day to make it more special.
