Even as the prices of petrol and diesel remained unchanged for the 12th successive day across the country today, the bus fares across categories were hiked in Odisha.

The private bus owners’ association said that bus fares have been revised as per automatic mechanism.

As per the latest notification, the ordinary bus fare has been increased to 90 paisa per kilometre from the existing fare of 90 paisa/km. A passenger will now have to pay 96 paisa per kilometre for travelling in express buses.

The previous fare was charged at 94 paisa per kilometre. As per the notification issued by the State Transport Authority (STA), “Due to an increase in diesel price from Rs 98.40 per litre on March 31 to Rs 102.22 on April 18, 2022, leading to price increase by an amount equal to Rs 3.82 direct and Rs 4.5 in cumulative, the fare for stage carriers other than town buses plying within the State have been hiked,” STA notification read.

Bus Fare Hiked:

Ordinary Fare increased from 90paisa to 92paisa.

Express Fare increased from 94paisa to 96paisa.

Deluxe Fare increased from 1.31paisa to 1.35paisa.

A. C. Deluxe Fare increased from 1.59paisa to 1.63paisa.

Super Premium fare increased from Rs. 2.47paisa to Rs. 2.53paisa.
