A foot over bridge will come up at the busy Palasuni square of National Highway 16 in Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore, said MP Aparajita Sarangi.

Palasuni, an accident-probe area, was recently in the news after an engineer was killed in a horrific mishap on April 4

Sarangi visited the spot on Tuesday and held a discussion with officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and local residents. She said the location where the foot over bridge will come up has been identified.

She said the construction work of the project will commence in July this year and end by October.

“I have requested the NHAI authorities to begin the construction work of the foot over bridge by July and try to commission the project by Durga Puja in October. I will hold talks with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in this regard,” Sarangi said.

“In order to ensure that senior citizens, women and children do not face any difficulties while using the foot over bridge, lift facility will be made available. Two operators will be appointed at the lift,” she added.

Speaking about other projects in Bhubaneswar, the parliamentarian said a flyover will be constructed at Cosmopolis Square at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore. Besides, two foot over bridges will come up at Hotel Crown and Satsang Vihar with a cost of Rs 3.22 crore.

Sarangi further informed that the work on the Capital Region Ring Road (CRRR) project will start soon and Rs 5,744 crore will be spent on the project.

“The carriageway will connect Rameswar of Khordha with Tangi of Cuttack. It will ease traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack,” she added.
