A fire broke out at the District Headquarter Hospital in Keonjhar on Monday morning. There are no reports of any injury so far.

According to Dr Kishor Kumar Prushty, Assistant Divisional Medical Officer (ADMO), Keonjhar, the fire broke out in a dialysis unit of the hospital around 12 pm. Short-circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the mishap.

All the 11 patients inside the unit were safely transferred to safer places with the help of seven doctors and 20 medical staffs, he said. No injury has been reported in the incident, he added.

When asked about the patients’ well being, hospital sources said that the patients panicked after seeing the smoke and the fire. Some are reportedly feeling drowsy due to suffocation, sources added.

Till the last report came in, the medical staffs and security present at the hospital have successfully doused the flame. Further details are awaited.
