Fight with wife: Youth climbs on 746 KV electric tower to end life

A youth climbed on a 33 KV electric tower and threatened to commit suicide following a family quarrel at Khandahata under Rairkhala police limits on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, police and fire brigade officials reached the spot to rescue him.

According to sources, “The youth identified as Akash Nayak is a resident of Hanumanpur under Kaniha  police limits of Angul district. He had got married to Kuni Nayak of Jubrajpur under Redhakhol police limits. Akash and Kuni had an argument two days back following which the latter had come to her paternal place. Akash also followed her with two children. When Akash asked Kuni to return home, the latter declined. An infuriated Akash in a fit of anger climbed on to the electric tower at 6am.”

Till we get the last updates, four fire service officials were struggling to rescue him as 746 KV wire which connects Paradip and Sambalpur is passing near him.
Meanwhile, Kuni and other family members have reached the spot and urged him to cooperate with the police and fire service personnel in the rescue operation.
