Throwing caution to the wind, the authorities of a private college located in Kunjakanta area, a containment zone, under Town police limits in Dhenkanal district had been conducting classes in night till Saturday when the police raided the institution.

Kunjakanta area was declared a containment zone few days ago after as many as 57 students of a private educational institution tested positive for Covid-19. And the area will continue to be a restricted zone till December 10.

The police were tipped off that another educational institution in the containment zone was conducting night classes for its student, flouting the Containment  Zone restrictions and Covid-19 guidelines.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, a team of the Town police station conducted raid at the institution.

However, some employees of the institution managed to give the slip to the cops while the remaining staff did not allow the police into the institution by locking its gate from inside.

After waiting for a long time, the police had to return.

When contacted, special officer of Town police station, Prakash Chandra Patra, said, “When we reached in a PCR van, we found three to four students loitering outside. Seeing us, they ran into the premises. We too entered only to find classes were in progress. Then the staff shut us out.”
