The East Coast Railway will resume four MEMU and express trains in Puri route soon. The announcement was made by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday during his visit to Konark to attend the International Day of Yoga event.

The railway minister announced to resume 68414/68413 Puri-Talcher-Puri MEMU, 68438/68437 Cuttack-Bhadrak-Cuttack MEMU, 18414/18413 Puri-Paradeep-Puri Express and 20857/20858 Puri-Sai Nagar Shirdi-Puri Express trains.

It is pertinent to mention here that, all the above-mentioned trains were cancelled in view of Covid19 protocols from 2019.

Earlier today, the Union IT and Telecom minister had also announced about redeveloping Puri railway station into a world-class railway station which will have facilities matching the international standards. 

"The railway station will get a facelift for which Rs 364 crore will be spent in two years. The Puri railway station will come up with buildings which would not get affected by 200-300 wind speed during cyclones," said Vaishnaw.

Furthermore, the Union minister also mentioned that a survey will be conducted soon to provide a railway connection to Konark.

Vaishnaw visited Puri station to take stock of the situation as part of the Nabakalebar project. He discussed many things to ensure safe journey of common people.
