ECoR cancels half dozen trains after goods train derailment in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar-Howrah, Bhubaneswar-Bolangir, Puri-Paradip, Puri-Barbil, Talcher-Puri, Paradip-Cuttack trains have been cancelled from both directions.

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Tuesday announced cancellation of as many as six trains running on Bhubaneswar route due to the derailment of a goods train near Bhubaneswar station.

As per ECoR sources, Bhubaneswar-Howrah, Bhubaneswar-Bolangir, Puri-Paradip, Puri-Barbil, Talcher-Puri, Paradip-Cuttack trains have been cancelled from both directions.

Five trains have been rescheduled due to the derailment.

Puri-New Delhi Purusottam Express will start from Puri at 1 am tonight instead of 9.55 pm. Puri-Shalimar Express (11882) will start from Puri at 1.30 am tonight instead of 10.05 pm. Puri-Shalimar Express (18410) will start from Puri at 2 am tonight instead of 10.40 pm. Puri-Ajmer Express will start from Puri at 2.30 am tonight instead of 2.30 pm. Bhubaneswar-Junagarh express will start from Bhubaneswar at 3 am tonight instead of 9.40 pm.

Short-termination of trains:

1. 12894 Bolangir-Bhubaneswar originating on 22.08.22 short-terminated at Naraj and Services between Naraj-Bhubaneswar cancelled.

2. 22820 Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Exp originating on 22.08.22 short-terminated at Balugaon and Services between Balugaon-Bhubaneswar cancelled.

3. 18125 Rourkela-Bhubaneswar Exp Originating on 22.08.22 short-terminated at Cuttack and services between Cuttack-Puri cancelled.

4. 18424 Nayagarh Town-Bhubaneswar Exp on 23.08.22 will short-terminate at Khordha Road and Services between Khordha Road-Bhubaneswar will remain cancelled.

As many as five wagons of a goods train laden with cement had derailed near Bhubaneswar railway station on Monday night affecting rail movement on the route.

The mishap took place at around 8.35 pm while the train was on its way to Vizianagaram via Bhubaneswar and Cuttack from Chakradharpur Division.

Due to the derailment at Bhubaneswar station yard, more than a dozen trains were affected partially. 

Meanwhile, the ECoR authorities informed that the rerailment of the track has been completed.

"Rerailment of track completed at Bhubaneswar Yard. Track fit given at 0715hrs with 15kmph," the ECoR tweeted.
