In a shocking incident of sheer apathy, a stray dog allegedly ate up the body parts of a man at the mortuary of a government-run hospital in Rourkela. The incident was reported at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH). 

According to sources, Rajesh Yadav of Udit Nagar area died after being hit by a four-wheeler on Thursday. His body was kept in the mortuary of RGH for post-mortem. However, the parts of the face of the deceased were found eaten up by a dog. 

Tension erupted at the hospital following the incident. However, police officials from Raghunathpalli pacified the protestors and brought the situation under control. 

Speaking on the incident, the superintendent of the hospital, Jagdish Barik said a team has been formed to probe the incident. He has also assured to take action to prevent reoccurrences of such incidents at the hospital.

“A dog might have strayed into the morgue. Such an incident had never happened in the hospital earlier. We have constituted a team to inquire into the incident. Action will be taken against those responsible on the basis of the probe report,” said Barik. 

As per the latest report, the body was later handed over to the family members after post-mortem.
