Fire safety measures at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar were reviewed under the direct supervision of Director General of Fire Services, SK Upadhyay.

The DG of Fire Services himself visited the airport and took stock of the safety measures available at the airport to face fire mishaps, if they break out.

Upadhyay also suggested the airport authorities to keep adequate quantity of fire balls so that they can be used effectively at the time of fire mishap.

“We have taken stock of fire safety arrangements at BPIA. Basically, we inspected two things-measures in place for safe rescue of passengers and fighting the fire at the time of take-off or landing. We found the fire tenders at the BPIA are very effective. There are doctors also available to take care of the passengers, in case of any eventuality,” said Upadhyay.

Director of BPIA, Prabhat Ranjan Beuria informed that it has been their top property to maintain fire safety arrangements up to the mark. “We are always ready to face any kind of eventuality. The DG has advised us to add fire safety balls to our existing equipments for better result and we will implement it,” said Beuria.
