The death toll in the Kharasrota river mishap in Jajpur district rose to five after bodies of two missing youths were fished out of the river on Sunday.

As per reports, a total of seven persons got swept away in the strong current of the river while they were taking a bath on the eve of Holi yesterday.

The bodies of two youths were recovered after a search operation by the ODRAF and other agencies yesterday.

All the youths, believed to be local residents, had gone to Mangala Ghat near Badasuara after playing Holi to take a bath. However, they reportedly lost their balance on the slippery rocks while bathing and were swept away in the strong current.
