CRPF Havildar Shoots Self With AK-47 Rifle In Odisha’s Nuapada

A havildar belonging to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle (AK-47) in Nuapada district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Pratap who is a native of Haryana. As per initial reports, Ram Pratap was working at the 216 Bn CRPF camp at Barkote area in the district.

As per reports Ram Pratap took the extreme step of shooting self inside the guard room. Hearing the gunshot, other CRPF staff present at the camp rushed to the spot and found Pratap’s body.

Later, the body was sent for autopsy. An empty bullet shell has been recovered the spot.

Though no reason has been attributed to the havaldar’s suicide, the Komana Police has launched an investigation into the incident.
