The restrictions imposed at Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri in view of Covid situation has been lifted on Saturday.

Puri Collector Samarth Verma today made the announcement informing that the new orders will come into effect from March 20 onwards.

Srimandir will open on Sundays as usual for darshan by devotees unlike earlier when the 12th century shrine used to remain off limits for sanitisation purposes, Verma said after chairing a Chhatisa Nijog meeting.

Moreover, restrictions on darshan timings have also been lifted in the temple. Devotees will be allowed entry for darshan in the shrine from the Dwara Phita (opening of the temple) to the last rituals of the deities called Pahada niti (closing of the temple).

This apart, the time table of rituals for the Dola Purnima were also finalised during the Chhatisa Nijog meeting today.
