As the festive season is round the corner, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has set a target to complete all pending road repair works in the city before Ganesh puja.

According to sources, a decision in this regard was taken during a meeting between CMC and Cuttack Mahanagar Nigam Shanti Committee held on Monday.

The meeting also held discussions on the never-ending JICA project work crisis in the city.

Speaking to media, CMC mayor Subash Chandra Singh said, “As festive season is approaching, we are working on sanitisation and cleanliness. Besides, people are suffering due to the JICA projects. We will discuss with the concerned engineer and take necessary decision for the smooth conduct of puja in the city.”

“We hope the CMC will address the issues and complete the repair works of road before the puja season starts,” said Debendranath Sahoo, general secretary of Shanti Committee.

Notably, Cuttack is expected to host Ganesh Puja, Durga Puja and Kali Puja with full participation of devotees this season after two years of Covid hiatus.

In the last two years, the pujas were performed behind closed doors, while the idols’ height were restricted to only 4 feet in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
