Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated the Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Puri.

The inauguration came a day after a war of words broke out on social media between the BJP and the BJD over the inauguration of the Puri Medical College. The Odisha government shot an invite to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to defuse the situation.

Taking to Twitter, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra on Monday wrote, “It’s good to learn that finally the Odisha government called the Union Health Minister to attend the inauguration of “Sri Jagannath Medical College” in Puri scheduled for today. The Union Minister too joined and addressed the session virtually.”

Patra further said, “There’s a protocol to invite Union Ministers for such inaugurations of centrally sponsored schemes. Minister’s consent, convenience and time is sought well in advance.

“Despite this not being followed Sh @mansukhmandviya ji consented in consonance with the Spirit of “Sabka Sath,” tweeted Patra.

On Sunday, the senior BJP leader had vented his anguish on social media by raking up the issue. “Without getting into the “Credit War”, the Honourable CM Odisha should have made a courtesy call to the Honourable PM to inaugurate the Medical College in Puri,” Patra had tweeted.
