Union Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizers Bhagwanth Khuba on Friday hit out at Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accusing the latter of politicising the issue of farmers.

In response to the letter written by CM Naveen to the Centre over short supply of fertilizers, Khuba alleged that Naveen is doing unnecessary politics.

“It is not good for the farmers to do politics over fertilizers. The Narendra Modi-led government has been meeting the demand of fertilizers of all the states, including Odisha for the last eight years. Even today, Odisha has Urea, DAP, MOP and NPK fertilizers as per the demand,” said Khuba.

“The Central government’s website has all the data regarding how much fertilizer states have received from the Central government and the stock left with them,” claimed the MoS.

Earlier today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written a letter to Union Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya and alleged that DAP and MOP fertilizers have been short supplied to the State.

Mentioning that 94,000 MT fertilizers were supplied to Odisha as against the requirement of 1,55,000 MT by July this year, the Chief Minister had (in the letter) requested the Center to provide the rest 46,877 MT fertilizers to the State.
