At least two bus staff sustained critical injuries in a clash over the timing and movement of vehicles at Baramunda new bus stand in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The injured have been admitted to the Capital hospital.

Upon being informed, Bharatpur police reached the spot and started a probe into the incident. The assaulters are reportedly on the run. After the initial probe, police have reportedly detained a few persons for questioning.

As per reports, staff of two buses indulged in a heated exchange among themselves over the movement of their vehicles. However, one among them lost his cool and attacked the other party with a sharp-edged weapon.

A driver and conductor of the bus sustained severe injuries in the attack. The window panes of a bus have also been damaged in the process.

According to an eyewitness, two buses named Babamani and Dildar were about to start their journey from the bus stand towards Berhampur and Chhatrapur respectively.

However, the staff of both the buses argued with each other over the timing and movement of vehicles. Subsequently, staff of Dildar bus allegedly attacked their counterparts with sharp-edged weapons leaving two of them critically injured.

“These kinds of things often happen at the bus stand due to lack of coordination among the staff. Outside goons often take advantage of such situations and attack the staff for money,” said a local resident.
