They later alerted the cops who reached the spot and seized the vehicle. Many cows were rescued from the huge container.

Eyewitnesses said, the vehicle hit a youth near Mangaraj Square and tried to speed away. However, a few local youths chased the vehicle and intercepted it. Upon search, it was found to be carrying cattle.

On the other hand, there was another vehicle piloting the cattle-filled container. They even tried to threaten the local youths. However, they sped away after locals gathered in the area.

“I first informed my friends as they were huge in numbers. They had gheraoed me and were threatening. So, I called my friends first but failed to reach on time. The container hit a youth near the square where policemen are stationed. But, they did nothing. We chased the container and intercepted it, but the cops came late,” alleged Krishna, a local social worker.

Similarly, a local resident Siddhant Ray said, “This isn’t the first time. We have intercepted many vehicles and handed it over to the cops. But, the next day, the vehicles go missing from the police station. Not a single complaint has been registered against the vehicle owners. The police just left off the vehicles and do not even register a case.”
