Days after the Centre reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel prices in the country, the Odisha government has slashed the bus fare in different categories under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism .

An order in this regard has been released by All Odisha Bus Owners’ Association general secretary Debendra Kumar Sahoo on Thursday.  The order reads: “Due to decrease of HSD price, bus fare has been decreased as per automatic mechanism as follows.”

According to a notification issued by the Odisha Bus Owners’ Association, the fare in ordinary category buses has been reduced to 89 paise per km from the existing 92 paise per km.

Similarly, the fare has been slashed from the existing 96 paise to 93 paise per km in the express bus category.

Moreover, in deluxe category buses, it has been slashed from the existing Rs1.35 to Rs1.29 per km.

In the AC deluxe category buses, it has been reduced from the existing Rs1.63 to Rs1.57 per km.
