Break dance swing ride claims life of 13-year-old girl in Koraput

A joy ride in break dance swing installed in Meena Bazar turned fatal for a 13-year-old girl who died of suspected heart attack while enjoying the ride in Koraput district of Odisha.

Alfiya Bran, daughter of Mohammad Yakub of Mirgan Sahi, was pronounced dead at Kotpad Community Health Centre (CHC).

As per sources, Alfia had gone to Meena Bazar, which had come up on the occasion of Rath Yatra, with her family. Despite resistance from her family, Alfiya sat on the break dance swing with her mother to take a fun ride. 

However, after first round of ride she fell unconscious. She was immediately rushed to Kotpad CHC. However, doctors at the hospital pronounced her dead.

A pall of gloom descended on the area after the death of the minor girl. The district administration ordered suspension of the break dance swing after the mishap. 

M Shankar Rao, NAC of Kotpad NAC said, “The minor girl suffered heart attack after one round of ride in the break dance swing. She was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. After discussion with the police, we have asked to withhold the break dance swing service.”
