With the meeting held at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office today over the Bhuashuni dumping yard near Daruthenga area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar ended with no result, the impasse still continues.

After the meeting, Mayor Sulochana Das said it is expected that the matter would be sorted out within two days.

“The meeting we had today was a positive one. Soon, the impasse would end,” said Das.

In his reaction, Daruthenga sarpanch Tapan Kumar Chakraborty said, “As per the decision taken at the meeting,  a village meeting will be held after two days. One thing is clear that there would be no bio-mining of the garbage for the time being.”

On the other hand, the residents of Daruthenga area said the BMC should hold a discussion with the villagers as well.

The residents have been up in the arms against the BMC dumping garbage near their village. They had even staged a blockade on the road, not allowing garbage vehicles to the yard.

The meeting held at the conference hall of the BMC was attended by Jatni MLA Suresh Routray, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh, all corporators, senior officials, Daruthenga Sarpanch Chakraborty and elected members of the block.
