Bhubaneswar couple attack each other with blade over suspected extra-marital affair

In a bizarre incident, a couple sustained injuries after they attacked each other with blade and iron pestle in the capital city of Odisha, police said on Saturday.

As per reports, the incident was reported from Sabarsahi area of Rasulgarh.

The couple was identified as Debasmita Moharana and Rakesh Jena.

According to sources, the couple, who had a love marriage, has filed for divorce. However, the man now wants reconciliation.

The couple befriended through Instagram in March last year and subsequently love blossomed between them. After a short span, Debasmita eloped with Rakesh to Cuttack where the pair stayed in a live-in relationship for some time.

“We were staying at Cuttack as friends, but after receiving threats from her family I married her. After marriage minor quarrel began between us over the monetary issues,” said Jena.

Jena said though they have filed for divorce, they are in constant touch.

Later the couple decided to stay together for 15 days and bury the hatchet.

But the woman reportedly fell in love with another person at her workplace and refused to reunite with her estranged husband. 

Angry over the issue, Rajesh went to her and ask her to return. However, their quarrel turned into a fight and the couple attacked each other using blades and iron pestle.
