A youth from Bhadrak has set off on a cycle to New Delhi to meet newly-elected President Droupadi Murmu. He also has a message for the Odisha-born President.

His simple message is – One Man, One Tree. While green activists, eco clubs, NGOs and government are taking steps to protect environment, Bhadrak’s Sanjay Kumar Panda aims to create awareness among people in his own way.

With the sole aim of sensitising people on tree plantation, Panda has set off on the cycle journey. He first visited Bhadrak District Collectorate from where he began his New Delhi journey.

“The rapid rise in pollution is a matter of serious concern. Temperatures are on the increase because of lack of green cover. Moreover, forests are being destroyed recklessly. Every citizen should plant plenty of trees to save Mother Earth. One man should plant at least plant one tree. My journey is with a simple message,” said Sanjay Panda.

Panda wants to create awareness among people he meets during his journey. Coming from Bhadrak and seeing large scale destruction during cyclones, he has understood the imminent need for awareness to save the environment.
So, he has started his campaign. He personally has distributed saplings and planted numerous trees.

“Even for little works, we take out our bikes. We have forgotten to walk or cycle. I want to encourage people to take to cycling and walking and avoid using vehicles as much as possible,” he quipped.

“Since, President Droupadi Murmu is from Odisha. I will first congratulate her on becoming the 15th President of India and tell her about my small message,” Panda concluded.
