A minor girl in Balasore district has written a letter to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requesting help for her studies and treatment of her mother who is suffering from mental disorder.

The girl, identified as Subhadra Panda, from Patanaipur village under Remuna block in the district has narrated her acute poverty and suffering in her letter to Patnaik.

As per reports, Subhadra lost her foster father when she was in Class 2 and subsequently, her mother lost her mental balance. Though Subhadra is a good student, she is finding it hard to continue her study as she has to manage the family and take care of her mother in a dilapidated house.

Subhadra is a Class X student and she has been continuing her study with the help of her tutor Naba Kumar Das.

“I have nobody to help me. I want to pursue higher education and aim to be a teacher. Please help me to fulfill my dream so that I will be able to teach helpless students like me,” she wrote in the letter. She also affixed a photo of herself in the letter.

As per reports, Balasore District Children Welfare Committee has come forward with assurances after Subhadra’s plight went viral on various social media platforms.

“We will write to our DCP unit to collect all the facts about the girl as per our mechanism. Then we will take necessary steps for her education by discussing with government authorities and corporate sectors,” said Balasore District Children Welfare Committee Chairman Bhagirathi Barik.
