The Orissa High Court on Monday imposed a stay on the move to withdraw the spouse card of actor and BJD Lok Sabha MP Anubhav Mohanty's wife Varsha Priyadarshini.

The HC also issued notices to the secretary general and deputy director of the Parliament, along with the MP, while scheduling the next hearing date on March 15.

"The Court has put stay on the direction of the Lok Sabha Secretariat to surrender the spouse identity card of my client," informed Varsha's lawyer, Sujata Jena.

Earlier, the Parliament Secretariat had issued a notice to Varsha following a request made by her estranged husband to the Lower House to cancel his wife's spouse identity card, withdrawing all privileges.

Later, Varsha had moved the High Court challenging the move of the Parliamentarian.

It may be recalled that the BJD MP from Kendrapara had earlier filed a 47-page divorce petition in Delhi’s Patiala House court alleging that his wife was not allowing sexual relations and natural conjugal life.

However, Varsha moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the divorce petition to a court in Cuttack. Since then, there has been a string of domestic violence cases and counter cases filed by the troubled couple against each other.
