Following the storm that was created by the video posted by Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty on social media Thursday, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) observer for the district, Debasis Samantray said that the actor-turned-politician was nowhere to be seen during the Panchayat poll campaigns.

"I have seen that video. It was released in his personal capacity and it deals with his relationship with his wife," Samantray said.

When asked about Mohanty’s political career, Samantray said, “The rumours about him being sidelined by the party are baseless. He is the MP of Kendrapara and he is regularly invited to all the meetings in the district. As far as his election campaigning is concerned, he was nowhere to be seen during the Panchayat poll campaigns.”

“Though he said a lot of things about his voters and fans in the video, he didn't mention anything about what he has done for the welfare of the people of his constituency. His success as a politician and leader is measured by what people say about him and the opinions of his constituents,” said the senior BJD leader.

Speaking about Mohanty’s exclusion from BJD campaigners’ list in Brajarajnagar, Samantray said, “Party entrusts campaigning responsibility on leaders who know the area and constituency very well.”

While the marital dispute between the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Anubhav Mohanty and his wife Varsha Priyadarshini continues to hog the media limelight, the social media post by Mohanty went viral on Thursday.

In the video, Anubhav said choosing life partner was the only mistake he committed and it has ruined his life. He said he fell in love in 2008 and loved her most in the world. And after six years of courtship, they finally got married.

He made the statement without mentioning any name, but the indication was clearly to his wife Varsha whom he married in 2014.

It is worth mentioning that the BJD MP was excluded from the list of party’s star campaigners for Pipili bypoll. His name is also missing from the recently released list of BJD’s campaigners for the Brajarajnagar bypoll.
