K Deepika, who has been staging a sit-in outside her boyfriend’s house along with her son for months demanding recognition as wife, appeared before the Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) on Friday. However, her lover Dinesh failed to turn up at the Commission office.

Meanwhile, the Commission extended the hearing due to the absence of Dinesh.

According to sources, the Commission held discussion with the counsels of both parties for two hours.  While Commission said both parties were happy with the outcome of the discussion, Deepika made it clear after having discussion with the Commission that she will continue her stir until Dinesh recognises their son.

“Dinesh did not appear before the commission for which another date has been fixed. I have complete faith in the judiciary system. Commission Chairperson has assured me to sort out the issue in the next hearing and give me justice. If the next meeting fails to arrive at a consensus, I will continue my strike,” Deepika said

Dinesh’s lawyer Rajendra Pratap said, “We had an extensive argument with the Commission. Another date has been fixed.  I will advise my client Dinesh to appear in the Commission positively and follow the commission’s order.”

Notably, Deepika and Dinesh came to know each other two years ago. In course of their relationship, Deepika reportedly became pregnant with Dinesh's child. Though Dinesh had promised her to marry, he didn’t keep his words. He started distancing himself after Deepika gave birth to a baby boy.

Deepika reached his house with their baby after she learnt that Dinesh’s marriage had been fixed with another woman. Since then, she has been staging a dharna seeking justice.
