After running from pillar to post to get justice, a youth attempted to immolate his self in front of the office of Kalahandi district collectorate office on Friday.

According to sources, Khetrachandra Nayak, a resident of Kalia Kundala village, knocked on the door of District Collectorate seeking justice in a land dispute case. A few days back, he along with his family members sat on a hunger strike demanding fulfilment of their demands. It was then that the Collector had met them and ordered the concerned official to probe the matter. However, nothing was done to sort out the issue

“As the district administration failed to give justice to me,  I decided to immolate myself in front of the administration,” said Khetrachandra.

He said “A fellow villager has encroached upon half of my arable land out of total 17 acre land. Despite making rounds of Tehsil office and sub-collector’s office, none paid heed to my requests.”

Block official and district administration officials were found unavailable for making comments.
