The marital discord between actress Varsha Priyadarshini and her husband Anubhav Mohanty took another ugly turn after the former filed a complaint of defamation against the BJD MP’s friend Jagrati Shukla at a police station in Cuttack, on Thursday.

The complaint was registered at the Puri Ghat Police staion after Jagrati allegedly targeted Varsha in her social media post though she did not name anyone.

In her Facebook post, Jagrati wrote, “Got to know that a Parliamentarian's wife has put different names in Marriage Certificate, 10th Certificate, Passport, Pan Card, Bank Account, ITR and almost all documents. As well as got to know that she used her parents Surname differently (under two different categories). Does this not count as Fraud? Shouldn't she be investigated thoroughly? Or as wife she has immunity?? Is she eligible to get all the Spouse benefit?” asked Jagrati through the post.

The Orissa High Court on Monday had imposed a stay on the move to withdraw the spouse card of Varsha.

Earlier, the Parliament Secretariat had issued a notice to Varsha following a request made by her estranged husband to the Lower House to cancel his wife's spouse identity card, withdrawing all privileges.

Later, Varsha had moved the High Court challenging the move of her parliamentarian husband.

Amid his bitter legal feud with wife Varsha Priyadarshini, the actor-turned politician has been putting up posts on Jagrati Shukla, a journalist and consultant at Lok Sabha TV, whom he considers his ‘Dearest Friend’.

In an Instagram post in October last year, he described Jagrati as a ‘self-made, empowered lady’ and a ‘Dearest Friend’.
