Actor turned philanthropist Sonu Sood has come forward and sought help from fellow countrymen to donate whatever they can to treat one and a half year old Rajveer from Ambapada village in Kandhamal who is suffering from a rare genetic disorder.

As per reports, the parents of Rajveer reached out to Sood in Mumbai for help and in turn, he requested all to donate whatever they can for Rajveer’s treatment.

In a video message, Sood said, “We have seen in the past what public cooperation can do. People have been cured of this disease before. So, I request all to come forward and donate as per your capacity so that the child gets a new life.”

Rajveer has been suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a rare genetic disorder where a person can't control the movement of muscles due to loss of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain stem.

The boy's health is deteriorating day by day and he urgently needs a Zolgensma injection, which costs Rs 16 crore and has to be imported from the US, to save his life. The doctors, who were treating Rajveer in Bangalore, have given a deadline of four months for the administration of the life-saving injection.

Notably, the couple has begun a campaign to raise funds worth Rs 16 crore for the treatment of their son. However, it is impossible for Rajveer's parents to raise such a huge amount in such a short span of time. So, they have sought help from CM Naveen Patnaik for the treatment.

To save the life of her son, Rajveer's mother Tamalika has been helplessly knocking the doors of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Recently, she had staged a dharna outside the Naveen Niwas on December 2.
