 At least four persons of a marriage party were killed while seven others left critically injured after the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a truck in Kalahandi district of Odisha.

The tragic mishap took place at Turlakhaman on National Highway 217 under Kesinga police jurisdiction in the district. 

As per reports, some people were returning to Siskela of Bolangir from Pipalpadar after attending a marriage when their boarding vehicle collided with a truck full of paddy.  

Out of the 11 occupants in the bolero, four persons including three women reportedly died on the spot, while seven others were rescued with critical wounds. 

Locals with help of police immediately shifted the injured passengers to Kesinga hospital. All of them were later moved to Bhawanipatna hospital after preliminary treatment. One critically injured child was referred to Burla medical college and hospital. 

The circumstances under which the mishap occurred are not clear. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
