As many as 34 bonded labourers from Odisha’s Nuapada district have alleged inhuman torture by the owner of a brick kiln in Telangana. The hapless labourers have pleaded the State government to rescue them at the earliest, through a video.
As per reports, the labourers hailing from Belgaon, Kotribahal, Malpada, Lohandopali and Thakurpali villages, under Komna Block of Nuapada district, were employed at a brick kiln under Bangiri police limits in Telangana. The labourers went for work to the neighbouring state in December 2021 with the help of a middleman.
However, the owner of the brick kiln tortured and abused them physically, alleged the labourers through the video.
As seen in the video, several groups of labourers, including male and female, are narrating their plight. One elderly woman said that they are made to undergo inhuman torture and not even getting food or water. Several children were also seen in the video.
Meanwhile, the Telangana (district) administration and the brick kiln owner are yet to respond to the allegations made by the labourers.
Earlier in January, another video had surfaced where in as many as 65 bonded labourers from Nuapada alleged inhuman exploitation by the owner of a brick kiln in Hyderabad and pleaded the administration to rescue them.
