At least four persons were killed while 13 persons sustained critical injuries in two separate road accidents in Sonepur and Khordha districts on Tuesday.

At least three persons were killed while five persons sustained eight injuries after a car hit an autorickshaw on NH-57 near Badabahali chhak today morning.

While all the injured persons have reportedly been admitted to a nearby hospital, the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, the mishap took place when a speeding car hit a bike and an autorickshaw which was carrying eight vegetable traders, killing three of the eight traders on the spot.

Later, irate locals blocked the road by placing the bodies and demanding compensation for the family members of the deceased. The protesting villagers also demanded immediate arrest of the Police Inspector who was allegedly driving the car.

In another such road mishap incident, a person lost his life while eight others sustained critical injuries in Khordha district on Tuesday. A truck and a bus, which was en route to Buguda from Bhubaneswar, reportedly collided on NH-16 near Gada Khordha.

Khordha Police reportedly rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation. All the injured are reportedly undergoing treatment at the Khordha district headquarters hospital.
