The Jajpur district collector on Sunday suspended three officials including a junior engineer for their alleged involvement in irregularities in various developmental projects of Jari panchayat under Binjharpur block in the district.

The officials placed under suspension are junior engineer Tushar Patra, panchayat officer Prakash Jena and Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) Partha Sarathi.

The suspension of the officials by the Collector came days after the villagers staged a protest in front of the panchayat office alleging large-scale irregularities in several projects of the village.

“Acting on the allegations levelled by the locals, we initiated an investigation and came to know about the wrongdoings in several projects. The JE, panchayat officer and GRS have been placed under suspension following the probe. Further inquiry into the matter is on and action will be taken against the erring officials,” said district Collector Chakravarti Singh Rathore.

Notably, Odisha government has introduced several stringent measures to contain corrupt practices among the officials across the State.

Recently, two Junior Engineers were placed under suspension at Sinapali Block in Nuapada district after a purported video showing both of them ostensibly bargaining commission with a local contractor went viral on social media platforms.
