3 constables suspended for fuel overbilling in Sambalpur

Three constables have been placed under suspension on charges of fuel overbilling and false meter reading of the government vehicles in Sambalpur district on Tuesday.

As per sources, Sambalpur superintendent of police (SP) has initiated the action against the trio after finding them guilty of dereliction of duty. They were posted in the Motor Vehicle Department.

“The officials should have property tallied the distance the vehicles had travelled during the poll duty instead of submitting the report haphazardly,” says B Gangadhar, Sambalpur SP.

Sources said the three constables had not conducted proper fuel billing and meter reading of the vehicles deployed during the three-tier Panchayat polls in the State. 

After their suspension, an investigation has been launched into the matter.
