The Head of Paediatric department at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur has courted serious controversy after a video of three children put on oxygen supply from one cylinder went viral two days back.

Expressing concerns over the incident, the hospital medical Superintendent Santosh Kumar Mishra on Monday ordered a probe into it.

"The departmental head has been asked to clarify in which condition three children put on oxygen supply from a cylinder," said Mishra.

He has also been asked to explain as to why ailing children were shifted from one place to other.

According to sources, the three children were admitted in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of the hospital. On checking the children, the doctor advised to shift them to the Cardiology department as they were having heart problem especially breathing issues.

After they were carried by their mothers along with staff of the Cardiology department, each of three children was given oxygen through separate plastic pipe connected to one cylinder.

When contacted, MKCG Superintendent Santosh Kumar Mishra said, “The concerned department head has been asked to submit a detailed report in this regard.”

It is learnt that the condition of all children was stable.
