As many as 10 persons including eight children and Anganwadi worker and helper were injured in honey bee attack at the Anganwadi centre in Baulsingha under Kantamal block in Boudh district on Thursday.

The injured persons were immediately rushed to the nearby medical and their treatment is underway.

The condition of all the children is stated to be stable.

As per villagers, the swarm of bees attacked the children and Anganwadi workers at the center when somebody unknowingly disturbed a beehive at a nearby place.

“As many as 15 children were at the Anganwadi centre when the swarm of bees attacked them. Though the exact reason behind the bee attack is yet to be ascertained, we are doubtful that somebody must have thrown stones at the beehive at a nearby place to infuriate the swarm of bees,” said a villager.

“Luckily, the children were rushed to the hospital and their conditions are stable thanks to their immediate treatment by the doctors,” he said.
