1 killed, 12 injured in separate lightning strike incidents in Odisha

At least one person was killed and 12 others sustained injuries in separate lightning strike incidents across Odisha on Wednesday.

According to sources, six girls of Urlajodi village in Jigidi panchayat in Bishama Katek block of Rayagada district sustained injuries in the lightning strike while they were celebrating Raja festival in a mango orchard in the village.

The girls were immediately rushed to Community Health Centre (CHC). Of the six injured, two were later shifted to another hospital after their health condition worsened, sources informed.

In another incident, one person was killed and six others sustained injuries after lightning struck Kurmakot village in Chitra panchayat of Kotpad block in Koraput district.

As per reports, the lightning struck when they were having a discussion after returning from their daily works.

All of them were rushed to the Koraput District Headquarter Hospital (DHH)
