Pradeep Pattanayak

The special screening of ‘Vidrohi’, a serial based on the life and times of the freedom fighter and brave heart Buxi Jagabandhu from Odisha, was held at the Film Division auditorium, New Delhi on Monday. 

Set in the early 19th century Odisha, ‘Vidrohi’ revolves around Buxi Jagabandhu, who was the senapati of king of Khordha. He became the leader of the first ever people’s uprising against the East India Company, known as the ‘Paika Revolt’, or the ‘Revolt of the peasant warriors. 

Home Minister Amit Shah attended the event as the Chief Guest. Among others, Union  Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Anurag Thakur, Gajendra Sekhawat, Biseshwar Tudu, B. Murali Dharan, National BJP Vice President Baijayant Jay Panda, MP Aparajita Sarangi and cricketer Birendra Sehwag were present.
