'Suicide Pact' By Couple After Death Of Newborn Daughter; Man Succumbs, Wife Critical

Keonjhar: A man died at District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Keonjhar while his wife's health condition remained critical after the couple attempted to commit suicide by consuming pesticide grieving the death of their 12-day-old daughter.

The deceased has been identified as Madan Diua and his wife who is currently undergoing treatment at the DHH is Tiki Singi from Gumura village under Keonjhar Town police limits.

As per reports, Tiki gave birth to a baby girl on May 6. However, just eight days after birth the health of her daughter deteriorated following which they admitted her to the DHH for treatment.

Sadly, the baby girl could not make it and succumbed while under treatment.

Sources said, the bereaved couple did not take food mourning the death of their daughter. On Thursday, they consumed pesticide that reportedly caused the death of Madan while Tiki's condition is stated to be critical.
