Baripada/ Balasore: Vigilance officials today arrested the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) Mayurbhanj branch DGM Yashwant Choudhry while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000.

The DGM had demanded Rs, 5000 bribe from a local allegedly to make a bill for a rented vehicle at his office. Later, a trap was laid and Choudhry was caught red-handed by the Baripada Vigilance while he was accepting Rs 3,000 at his office.  The team also seized the bribe money from his possession.

After arresting Choudhry, officials of the anti-corruption wing conducted simultaneous raid on his house in Baripada and his Bhubaneswar office. The officials are further interrogating the official.

In another development, Vigilance sleuths raided the office and houses of Balasore Road Transport Officer (RTO) Amresh Patra and acquisition and possession of property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The team conducted the search operation simultaneously at nine places, including his office and houses at Balasore, Khuntuni in Cuttack and relative’s house in Bhubaneswar. The exact amount of disproportionate assets would be revealed once the    search drive is completed, said a Vigilance official.
