Bargarh: A person was killed and another sustained critical injuries in an elephant attack at Baidapali village under Paikmal police limits in Bargarh district late on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Lalbahadur Hans of Kenabuda village of the district.

According to sources, the two were attacked by a wild elephant while they were going to attend Karamasani Puja, a tribal event, at Baidapali village. The pachyderm grabbed the two and slammed them to the ground.

While  Lalbahadur died on spot, critically-injured Biraju Bariha was admitted to Paikmal hospital for treatment.
